What we’re about
Founded in 2012(inspired by Black Star co-op brewery and pub), we were California’s first co-op brewery, dedicated to craft beer, ale, cider, and other tasty fermented beverages. As a matter of historical record, in 2015, the co-op was renamed Umunhum Brewing, after Mt. Umunhum, an iconic peak in the nearby Santa Cruz mountains. The word “umunhum” is from the Ohlone language and means “resting place of the hummingbird.” We continue as a social beer group, since we had to end our beer brewing side of the co-op in late 2024.
