Beginner-level Scratch Game – Running Chase

Details
Presenters: Espen and Grant
Let's do a Scratch project together (https://scratch.mit.edu/about)! On Thursday, February 4th, Espen will help you get a solid footing on Scratch. This activity is intended for young learners with little or no experience. We will be collaborating together in real time using Scratch and Zoom. Scratch gives us all the opportunity to create solutions to puzzles and problems in different ways. During the workshop, everyone is invited to also compare while on Zoom to see how different people approach problems! To get ready for this event we recommend everyone does a mic/camera check for Zoom and create an account over at https://scratch.mit.edu/.
For any questions about this event feel free to ask Grant or Jelly on MeetUp or on Slack
Note: This event is a STEM presentation intended for a younger audience. All age groups are welcome as always!
Location: Zoom
For password, RSVP on MeetUp, ask in Slack, or email info@unallocatedspace.org
Below are the main steps we will follow for the beginner-level tutorial on a running chase game:
- find player sprite
- code movement
- find enemy sprite
- code enemy movement
- code player losing
- code points
Espen will guide you through the process, check in on your progress, and troubleshoot any difficulties you have!
If time allows, we might explore the new Pen feature, released in October 2020.
