It has been a journey to organise what started as less than 10 women enthusiastically telling each other about the amazing things they're up to in VR back at the start of 2016 to -- 3 years later -- a group of over 500 incredibly diverse members.Unfortunately as you all are aware, my responsibilities for the past 2 years meant that it was hard if not impossible to fully dedicate my time to Unfold and the grand plans I had for the group, as one person alone. As some of you also know, I have now re-located to Lisbon Portugal, and, have decided that I can better fulfil my commitment to empowering diversity in immersive tech through coming together with a bigger/wider organisation, where we are not operating in silo and can achieve greater things, together. You know I'm not precious about owning the group, simply ensuring I am part of a bigger cause that actually achieves change :)
As such, I have become an ambassador and co-organiser of WiiT (Women in Immersive Tech Europe) and will from now on be part of driving the conversation through the WiiT network. Please join them here:
We will have no more events/activity through Unfold UK, which I will be closing down and reopening with a different value proposition.Unfold Portugal will be focusing on powering unrepresented groups (women, LGTBQ+, BAME, socioeconomic backgrounds, neurodiverse minds) in tech and emerging tech, to close the gap between where I know Portugal can be and where it actually is (waaay behind the UK!).
Feel free to reach out with any questions, comments and ideas (email@example.com) and if you're ever in Lisbon, do hit me up!
Thank you for being on this journey with me. Whether you attended an event or not, whether I know you personally or not, simply by being a part of this group you have supported a mission to build a more equitable, beautifully rich and creative world, and I couldn't have done it without you.
