Inspired by Light: The Paolo Roversi Approach
Paolo Roversi is a master of timeless beauty, known for his poetic use of light and shadow. His photographs often feel like dreams caught on film—soft, haunting, and profoundly intimate. One of his most distinctive techniques is light painting, where the exposure is kept long and the light is guided by hand, almost like a brush on canvas.
This approach transforms photography into performance. The subject remains still, while the photographer moves, shaping light around the body to sculpt form, reveal texture, or veil the image in mystery. The result is an image that feels both deliberate and unpredictable, full of emotion, imperfection, and soul.
In this workshop, we take inspiration from Roversi’s method to explore the expressive power of slow photography. You’ll learn how to work with extended exposures, control light movement, and build atmosphere with intention. We’ll use available and continuous light sources, exploring the fine line between presence and absence, clarity and blur.
This is not about copying Roversi—it’s about learning to see light as something living, and to use it as a tool for storytelling.
Note: Participants must bring a tripod. A basic understanding of manual camera settings is recommended.
Loredana leads this workshop; she is a phenomenal photographer.
