## Field Trip: Lillian Bassman at the MET

Freek Dirkx Studio

Step into shadow, grain, and quiet elegance.
Where light doesn’t reveal—it whispers.

Join me for a field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to explore the work of Lillian Bassman—a master of mood, abstraction, and timeless femininity.
Bassman didn’t just photograph fashion—she dissolved it. Faces blur into light, fabric melts into shadow, and what remains feels like something remembered rather than seen. Her work lives in that fragile space between presence and disappearance.

This is not about sharpness or perfection.
It’s about suggestion. Atmosphere. Restraint.

We’ll slow down, look closer, and break apart what makes her images linger—how she bends light, erases detail, and lets imperfection become the story.

This is a rare chance to study her work up close—and maybe, just maybe, unlearn a few things along the way.

## 💡 Note

This is a free field trip, but you are responsible for your own museum admission.
