Fieldtrip: MET Costume Institute โ€” Costume Art
๐Ÿ“… May 6th | 1:45โ€“4 PM | The Met Fifth Avenue

The Costume Institute's spring 2026 exhibition is something different. Costume Art pairs garments from The Costume Institute with paintings, sculptures, and objects from across The Met's entire collection โ€” placing fashion in conversation with art spanning prehistory to the present.
Clothing and the body. Form and meaning. The political next to the playful. The individual next to the universal.

The pairings are organized around thematic body types โ€” connections that cut across centuries and cultures. It's not a fashion show. It's a meditation on how we've dressed, depicted, and understood the human form through time.
And it's the inaugural exhibition in The Met's new 12,000-square-foot galleries adjacent to the Great Hall โ€” so we're walking into a space that's never been open before.

For photographers, this is exactly the kind of material worth slowing down for.

What to bring: Your camera. Your eye.
Meeting point: Main entrance, Fifth Avenue. We'll gather at 1:45 PM.

โš ๏ธ This field trip is limited to 4 people. No MET membership required โ€” just show up ready to look.
