Field Trip: Studying the Greek Statues at the Met
Marble doesn't move. It doesn't blink, doesn't pose, doesn't ask for a second take. That's why it teaches.
Before the Greek Statue workshop, we go to the source. The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Two hours in the company of gods, athletes and women carved in stone 2,500 years ago.
We'll look at how the sculptors handled light on a curve, weight in a stance, and fabric that seems to breathe. Then we'll ask how to see the same way through a lens.
Cost: Free to join. Everyone is responsible for their own museum admission.
Bring: Your camera or phone, and a notebook if you like to sketch or take notes.
This is the warm-up for the workshop. Come with your eyes open.
