Come join native NJ wildlife photographer, Bobby Stormer, as he leads you on an adventure through one of Northern NJ’s best birding locations! During your journey, you will be on the lookout for both migratory and resident birds, all while Bobby teaches his in-the-field wildlife photography techniques. You’ll also gain insight into how Bobby uses his vast understanding of wildlife to increase his chances of capturing unique photo opportunities.
*Ethical wildlife photography will be practiced at all times!*

Did you know the NJ Meadowlands is situated along the Atlantic Flyway?! This flyway is a major north-south migrating route that starts in Greenland, runs along the coast of Canada, extends down the entire US coast, ending in the Caribbean. This important migrating bird stopover provides you with incredible opportunities to observe a diverse range of bird species.

Species targets:

  • Warblers: Yellow, Pine, Yellow-rumped, Palm, Redstart, Yellowthroat, Black-and-white, Ovenbird, Northern Parula, Blackburnian, etc…

  • Birds of prey: Bald eagle, Peregrine Falcon, Osprey, Red-Tailed Hawk, Coopers Hawk, Red-shouldered Hawk, American Kestrel, Merlin, Sharp-shinned Hawk, Great Horned Owl, Northern Harrier, etc…

  • Songbirds: Baltimore Oriole, Cedar Waxwing, Swamp Sparrow, American Goldfinch, Downy Woodpecker, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Tree Swallow, Eastern Towhee, Song Sparrow, Carolina Wren, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Barn Swallow, Eastern Bluebird, etc…

What to bring!

  • Camera and lens (preferably 400mm+)
  • Binoculars
  • Proper clothing for that days weather
  • Proper footwear for hiking
  • Tripod or monopod if necessary
  • Bug repellant
  • Water/snacks (clean up after yourself!)
  • A positive attitude ready to enjoy a day out in nature!
