Time And Space: A Pinhole Photography Exhibit
Details
Unique Photo is pleased to host a group photography exhibition featuring works by members of the NJ Pinhole Club and the global community of pinhole photographers in their 3rd and 4th floor gallery spaces. The exhibition, “Time and Space”, is an annual event and will be on view from April 1 - May 30, 2026. The theme of the exhibition is pinhole photography, which is an 1800’s historical photography process with roots dating back to B.C. times. Although the camera is very simple in its construction, the possibilities for its artistic usage are endless. On exhibit you’ll see a wide breadth of imagery from 14 members of the NJ Pinhole Club and 55 artists from around the world who were selected through a juried process by Kris Sebring and Heather Palecek to be in the exhibit. In addition there will be a large scale slideshow showcasing over 200 pinhole artworks.
Pinhole Photography is a historic form of photography using a rudimentary lensless camera, often handmade from recycled and reused materials, to capture an image through a small pin-sized hole on light sensitive material. This type of camera lends itself to creating photographs with long exposures and almost infinite depth of field, which is where the title “Time and Space” was derived! Pinhole photography also lends itself to possible light leaks, warped perspectives, and unexpected results. The unique aesthetic is a charming characteristic of pinhole photography that can also be described as mysterious, dreamy, or otherworldly.
The gallery is located within Unique Photo’s Old City store at 28 South 2nd Street Philadelphia.
The exhibit will be open to the public during regular business hours from April 1 - May 30. An artist’s reception will be held on Saturday, April 11 from 1:00-4:00pm with an artist talk starting at 2:00pm.
