River to River Photo Hike (6.5 miles) after the 20/20 Book Fair

Join us for an approximately 6.5-mile photo hike from Cherry St. Pier to South Street Bridge to take Long Exposures of the City and then back to 2nd street & Chestnut.

We'll leave at the end of 2020 Photo Festival's photo book fair at 5pm.

The 20/20 Photo Festival’s Photo Book Fair is open from 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM, so feel free to come early to gather inspiration for our walk.

We will meet in front of the Cherry Street Pier building and leave at 5:00 PM. Bathrooms are available inside, so arrive by 4:45 to get settled.

Suggested parking is available 3-4 blocks away at The AutoPark at Olde City ( 125 S 2nd St, Philadelphia, PA 19106 ) or along Front Street between Market Street and Chestnut Street. -There is limited street parking in front of the Cherry Street Pier, but the others will be close to our return (2nd and Chestnut Street)

Route:
We will walk from the Pier to the back of Elfreth’s Alley, then down Arch Street, To the Friendship Arch in Chinatown, and then on to Broad Street and then South to City Hall. There, we will pause to take photos (or use the restrooms at Dilworth Park) for 15-20 minutes before continuing West on JFK Boulevard to the South Street Bridge via the Schuylkill River Trail.

At the South Street Bridge, we will pause again for 30-35 minutes to enjoy the sunset and take long exposure photos of the skyline. Participants can choose to end their walk there or head back with the group to 2nd and Chestnut Streets via South Street (the whole way), then up North on 2nd street.

Depending on timing, we could end back at 2nd and Chestnut at about 8:45pm -9:30pm.

All cameras and lenses–including smartphones–are welcome.

Dress for the weather- wear comfy sneakers, bring snacks and please bring at least one bottle of water.

Our goal is to help you Create Better Pictures! A Unique Photo instructor/guide will be available to help with any questions during the photowalk. This is also a great chance to meet other photographers, expand your network, and gain some educational insight about photography.
