TALENTED TAILS FOR TITLES!

The AKC Trick Dog Title is a recognition program created by the American Kennel Club (AKC) to reward dogs for learning and performing fun, skill-based tricks.

All dogs — purebred or mixed breed — and dogs 4 months or older welcome. Cost is $10 per dog to be evaluated and paid before the test begins.

Dogs can earn progressive titles by performing a required number of tricks at each level (click on the level label to view its checklist):

  1. Novice - select 10 basic tricks; CGC holders perform 5
  2. Intermediate - select 10 intermediate tricks
  3. Advanced - select 10 higher-difficulty tricks
  4. Performer - 10 tricks done in a routine
  5. Elite Performer - a more complex themed routine with props

Eligibility
Your dog must have an AKC number via one of the following:

  • AKC Registration Number– This is for purebred dogs and the number would come from a breeder or previous owner.
  • PAL Number – If a dog is purebred but an AKC Registration Number is not possible, owners can apply for PAL number. Click here for instructions on applying.
  • AKC Canine Number– This number is given to mixed breed dogs, purebred, or non-AKC registrable breeds. Click here to apply.

Limited to 10 dogs. Dogs are tested one at a time. Participants are asked to remain for the full hour to take a group photo of new Trick Dog titles. If spots fill up, a waitlist will be started and another test will be scheduled soon.
