Nia (Non-impact dance fitness)

Details
Drawing from the dance arts, martial arts, and healing arts, Nia empowers people of all shapes and sizes by connecting the body, mind, emotions, and spirit. Kathy Bate, a licensed brown belt Nia instructor, leads the class in this somatic movement practice with moves that heal and energize the main areas of the body: the base, the core and the upper extremities. By choosing from three levels of intensity, participants can adjust their practice to their individual needs and abilities. Classes are held in the large Community Room, where the lovely floor invites students to dance barefoot if they are able. Bring a mat for the yoga-related movements that typically end the class. Drops-ins welcome. Freewill donation ($10 to $20 suggested) to Unity of Walnut Creek most gratefully appreciated.
