April 2014 BUG - Playmaker: Making Games With or Without Coding in Unity

Details

Hey Boston Unity Group!

After a crazy few months with GDC and PAX East we’re proud to invite you to join Jenna Hoffstein and Creath Carter as they present PlayMaker as a platform for non-programmers and other designer-types to create interactive games with or without coding. They will cover :

  • Why Playmaker might be a good choice and how it’s used in various projects solo or with teams

  • Drawbacks / frustrations with Playmaker

  • A short history of schematic-based visual scripting and finite state machines

  • Project demos that showcase the variety of applications PlayMaker can be used for

Afterwards, we will be heading to Cambridge Brew Company (http://cambridgebrewingcompany.com/) for some beers, cider and extended networking!

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:

Creath Carter is an artist and designer for the interactive medium, with over 10 years of experience in the game industry. He currently heads up art and development for the educational software company PBn’Games Inc. while balancing his art contracting business along with his own his own independent projects. His varied interests include game development as an artform, astrophysics, research in robotics and biology, literature, virtual and augmented reality, simulation as an artform, and software development for education. His primary development tools are 3dsMax, Zbrush, Photoshop, Unity and PlayMaker, and he is currently writing the PlayMaker handbook.
