Hi BUG! This month we're excited to introduce Barry Stout, who will be sharing his experience of architecting for flexibility and maintainability in a large Unity game.

About the talk:
In this talk, we will present an enterprise level architecture for Unity that utilizes a combination of Finite State Machines, Dependency Injection, and MVC. If that just lost half the readers, then I don't blame you. But the goal is not to make the code base more complicated but apply industry best practices for a flexible, maintainable, and concise project. If you find your Unity project a spaghetti mess or Unity's Entity Component framework difficult to scale, then hopefully we can provide some helpful nuggets. Often, people think about architecture too late in the game... no pun intended. Along the way, I will share some stories in the trenches for releasing Unity applications into industry. In addition, how to convince a construction worker that could bench my car to wear a silly looking AR headset for their job.

About the Speaker:
Self titled "non-game game developer", Barry Stout has been developing software for such companies as iRobot, Polaroid, IBM, and OSRAM Sylvania contributing to his 50 patents. Over the last 7 plus years, he has focused entirely on AR / VR using Unity for industrial applications. His current position at a startup, Immertec, is leading the Unity team for developing the world's only VR streaming platform for medical purposes.

A SPECIAL COVID-19 UPDATE:
We have made the decision to virtualize all our events for the foreseeable future. We will continue to have our usual monthly lectures, but we will not be hosting any in-person events at the CIC. Instead we’ll be streaming all our presentations on twitch over at https://twitch.tv/bostonunitygroup https://twitch.tv/bostonunitygroup
We intend to get things back to normal as soon as possible, and look forward to better days. As always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email us at admins@BostonUnityGroup.com.
By attending or participating in BUG events, you agree to abide by our safe-space policy (https://tinyurl.com/yablpctf). If you feel you are unable to, please do not attend or participate.
