Vesak Day: Buddha's Birthday Celebration
Details
Dear Dharma friends,
Come join us on Saturday, May 9, to celebrate Vesak Day, a day to commemorate the Buddha’s Birthday, enlightenment, and parinirvana. Everyone is welcome.
Hopefully we will become more aware of the fact that we are intrinsically the same as all Buddhas and thus will be more inspired to use the Buddha’s teachings to help ourselves and others.
Location: Universal Chan (445 Colusa Ave, Kensington, CA 94707)
Date: Saturday, May 9
Time: Starts at 9am
First, we will chant the Buddhist service, bathe the Baby Buddha, and dedicate the merit to all sentient beings.
Afterward, lunch will begin promptly at around 12pm and end around 1pm.
Chinese gongfu tea will then be served at around 1pm.
People can receive blessings through their donations to our Chan monk’s sangha.
Help us maintain alive this timeless wisdom and compassion to benefit this generation and future generations.
In addition, if you want to Take Refuge in the Triple Jewels and Take the Five Precepts, we will be providing an opportunity for people to do so at this same Vesak Day Celebration on May 9.
*You can decide to only Take Refuge, and you can also decide to take however many Precepts as you wish.
Dharma Master Daxing will perform the ritual.
Taking Refuge is fundamental to practicing Buddhadharma. The Five Precepts are also important.
Please let us know in advance if you will be Taking Refuge and the Five Precepts* on Saturday, May 9.
We hope to see you there!
All the best,
Universal Chan
