Note: This meetup does require me to pay for a big space where we can all congregate for a while. If you can, a recommended donation of $2 dollars is recommended to cover costs. Thanks!
Our most popular meetup is back, with a twist!
In 1997 Arthur Aron published a paper called "The Experimental Generation of Interpersonal Closeness". In it, he explores the concept of "closeness" in terms of relationships, and details a methodology for creating it, including the infamous "36 questions".
In this meetup, I'll pair you off randomly, and you'll go through the 36 questions with your partner. It should take 45 minutes, so we might be able to do another round or two of matches. When you're finished maybe you'll have made a new friend, a life long confidant, or maybe you'll walk away all like "wow, I can't believe Jon thought this was a good idea, that was the cringiest thing I've ever done... let's go back to scrolling on our phones"
This event is not a dating event, or a "singles" thing, just a way to explore the many avenues of friendship. The gender of the person you get paired up with is completely random. But if you do find the love of your life here, I am requiring that I get invited to the bachelor or bachelorette party, or you have to name one of your kids after me. Or at least a cat or something.
We'll be meeting in the auditorium room at the University City Library.
