What we’re about
Unplugged 2025 - All you need to know on classical music in Cape Town (with links to all the jazz as well!)
Unplugged aims to promote and support the vast range of unplugged / acoustic- mainly classical - music being performed live around Cape Town by professional musicians. From solo concerts to full orchestra, from traditional concert halls to art galleries, from Baroque to Chamber Jams, there is something for everyone right on our doorstep. If you are keen to explore and feel the passion of live performance this is a group for you.
For 2025 my main aim is to keep you informed of what is happening around Cape Town. I may not be able to organise Meet & Greets but hope that you are inspired to check out live music in and around the Cape once more whether alone or in groups and I am here to advise and help with what may interest you.
I manage the Cape Town Concert Series and am artist Liaison for La Motte in Franschhoek, I also compile the daily calendar for Fine Music Radio, present Matinee and try to keep my finger on the post of all things classical, some jazz and occasional acoustic when I can!
Check our discussion board for updates and if you are going to any of these events independently, let me know and maybe we can meetup 'impromptu', and if you are running a Meetup event group and please feel free to feature one of these events with your group.
If you want to join the Unplugged Newsletter directly then just email me at info@ctconcerts.co.za or join the newsletter through the website www.ctconcerts.co.za

See all- Inside the Orchestra Fundraising SoireeBowmans, Cape Town, Cape Town
Have you ever wondered how it is to be in an orchestra? The Friends of Orchestral Music (FOM) present soirees offering a unique opportunity to experience classical music up close in an informal setting, whilst also enjoying the splendours of a city view from the 11th floor of Bowmans with their signature wines, delicious canapes and extended conversations.
The first soiree for 2025 gives a rare opportunity to focus on musicians who are normally found at the back of the orchestra. Whilst a perception of brass and percussion might sometimes be 'loud' and 'banging', the instruments are far more diverse and complex and the Ubuntu Brass Quintet along with the Cape Town Philharmonic's Percussion Trio will introduce you to their world of music. These professional musicians have all been through the educational programmes that FOM Supports- from music centres such as Beau Soleiel and Hugo Lambrechts to the orchestral programmes of the CPYO and Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival which are highlighted through these events.
The evening also includes an introduction from the CPO's pre-concert talk hosts John Woodland and Albert Combrink. Sumptuous canapes and delicious wines follow with the chance to view the instruments and talk to the musicians.
Start time- Thursday 15 May: 6.30 for 7pm. Bowmans’ Cape Town Office, 11th floor, 22 Bree Street, Cape Town. Free Guest parking available inside Bowmans.
Limited Tickets are available at Quicket. Thanks to the generous support of Bowmans and Bill van Rensburg, the FOM are able to bring you these unique evenings in order to raise much needed funds for the upliftment and development of orchestral music and musicians across Cape Town.
If you have any queries please whatsapp me on 0846821337. These events are also perfect for solo travellers to attend.
