Hi everyone, on behalf of Galaxy Grove I would like to invite you to our Unreal Engine get-together. We will meet at the Dutch Game Garden. The event starts at 19:00 and the event lasts till 21:00. You are welcome to walk in from 18:00 onwards. There will be two speakers and then time to socialize.

Zhi Kang Shao is a software engineer in the Technical Developer Relations team at Epic Games. Before that he was lead programmer for 6 years at remote indie studio Gunpowder Games on PC title Maelstrom (2019), which was made in Unreal Engine 4. In this talk he'll be sharing how quests were scripted in Maelstrom (2019) using text assets (json) and Unreal's property system (reflection). Reflection lets you leverage existing classes, structs and variables in a codebase, which is great for empowering quest designers without needing much programmer assistance after the initial framework is created. This approach leans itself well to games with live service components and user modding.

Joost van Dongen has 15 years of industry experience, is one of the co-founders of Ronimo games, (Awesomenauts, Swords & Soldiers, and more) where he was lead programmer, producer and CEO before he started Galaxy Grove. He also created Robo Maestro, Cello Fortress and Proun as a solo developer. For his work, Joost has won a Dutch Design Award and 6 Dutch Game Awards. will give us insight into how he made his recently released procedural music toy Robo Maestro.
