CYCLE 6 | TIME, CHANGE & IMPERMANENCE
WEEK 1 — FRAMING
NOTHING STAYS.
NOT EVEN US.
Everything changes. Our relationships, our identities, our priorities — even the way we experience time.
Yet we often live as though things will remain the same.
In this opening session, we’ll explore what psychology and philosophy reveal about time, change, and impermanence.
Drawing on ideas from Seneca, Heraclitus, Heidegger, and modern psychology, we’ll question some of our deepest assumptions about life.
Together, we’ll explore:
- Why does time feel different as we grow older?
- Why do we resist change, even when it’s inevitable?
- How does knowing that life is finite change what matters?
- Can impermanence make life more meaningful?
Our central question:
If everything changes, how does knowing that change the way you live?
A short introduction to key ideas, followed by open discussion. No right answers — just meaningful conversations and different perspectives.
