Book Launch: THIS DREAMING ISLE comes to London!
As many of you will have seen, we officially launched our latest anthology, THIS DREAMING ISLE, at FantasyCon in October - but we're far too proud of it to leave it at that. So, with calls of 'Where's the London launch?' ringing in our ears, we bring you a special THIS DREAMING ISLE event at the start of 2019! Help us see in the new year with an entire coven of writers taken from the anthology. Joining us at the Star of Kings (upstairs function room, same as Unsung Live) will be the following authors, reading from their stories, answering questions and signing books: ROBERT SHEARMAN has written five short story collections, and between them they have won the World Fantasy Award, the Shirley Jackson Award, the Edge Hill Readers Prize, and three British Fantasy Awards. But he is probably best known for his work on Doctor Who, bringing back the Daleks for the BAFTA-winning first series in an episode nominated for a Hugo Award. His latest book, We All Hear Stories in the Dark, is to be released by PS Publishing in 2019. KIRSTY LOGAN is the author of the novels The Gloaming and The Gracekeepers, short story collections A Portable Shelter and The Rental Heart & Other Fairytales, flash fiction chapbook The Psychology of Animals Swallowed Alive, and short memoir The Old Asylum in the Woods at the Edge of the Town Where I Grew Up. Her books have won the Lambda Literary Award, Polari Prize, Saboteur Award, Scott Prize and Gavin Wallace Fellowship. CATRIONA WARD's debut novel, Rawblood (W&N, 2015) won the August Derleth Prize at the 2016 British Fantasy Awards, was shortlisted for the Author’s Club Best First Novel Award and was selected as a Winter 2016 Fresh Talent title by WHSmith. Her second novel, Little Eve, was published by W&N in July 2018. GARETH E. REES is the founder and editor of the website Unofficial Britain, and the author of The Stone Tide (Influx Press, 2018) and Marshland (Influx Press, 2013). JAMES MILLER is a novelist and academic. He has published the acclaimed novels Lost Boys (Little, Brown), Sunshine State (Little, Brown) and UnAmerican Activities (Dodo Ink), as well as numerous short stories and the collaborative poetry collection Strays (HVTN), written with Julia Rose Lewis. ALIYA WHITELEY’s first two speculative fiction novellas, published by Unsung Stories, have been shortlisted for numerous awards, including the Shirley Jackson Award and John W. Campbell Award. Her latest novel, The Loosening Skin, was published by Unsung Stories in October 2018. GARY BUDDEN is a writer, editor and the co-founder of Influx Press. His dark book of uncanny psychogeographies and landscape punk, Hollow Shores, was published in 2017 by Dead Ink, and his dark fiction novella Judderman (as D.A. Northwood) is published in 2018 by the Eden Book Society. As always, the event is FREE but please RSVP so we can make sure you have a seat. Now, who says we never give you anything for Christmas...
