A one-off, exclusive 20km day hike through the lush Thuringia Forest, discovering the like and history of the famous German poet, Goethe.
WHY GO?
Awarded the Quality Trail for Hikers in Germany award, the Geotheweg hiking trail connects all the historic places where the legendary poet worked. Passing through valleys and across peaks in the famous Thüringer Wald. Connecting culture and nature, the hike is one of the most picturesque in Germany - and at 20k long, it also makes for a substantial challenge.
Along the route are look out towers, restaurants and charming villages - along with multiplate natural locations where Goethe lived and worked. See stunning rock formations, stand-out views, and lush forests. The hike as well pushes hikers to the limits, with the challenge to achieve a long-distance hike, with challenging climbs and descents across a medium-to long distance trail.
