What we’re about

Welcome to the Upper Valley 20s & 30s Hiking and Adventure Group! This group is for people in their 20s and 30s who enjoy the outdoors and are looking to explore the various hidden gems of New Hampshire and Vermont. Event locations will include the Upper Valley region and the NH White Mountain region. This group is perfect for beginner and experienced adventurers alike who want to connect through hiking, walking, sightseeing, and other nature-based activities. Hikes will range from easy to moderate in difficulty with a “no person left behind” mindset—everyone is welcome, no matter your pace or experience level!

This group is intended to be a space for social connection, not for dating. That said, it's natural that some friendships may evolve into something more over time. Asking another person out is permitted, but please:

If the answer is no, don’t ask again.
Respect physical boundaries: don't touch anyone unless they've clearly said it's okay. This includes being mindful of non-verbal “no” cues like someone stepping back or raising their hand or hands upon approach.
No harassment, disrespect, or other inappropriate behavior: I am committed to keeping this a safe, welcoming, and inclusive Meetup group. Please treat others with courtesy and respect. If you experience any issues, please reach out to me directly. All concerns will be handled privately and thoroughly.

Group Guidelines

I am asking all members to follow a few simple rules to keep things running smoothly:

RSVP honestly: please keep your RSVPs up to date. 3 no-shows without notice will result in removal from the group. Last-minute cancellations are acceptable, but please update your RSVP. If you do not, it will be considered a no-show.
Photo requirements: for safety reasons, all members must have a clear profile photo. This is to help everyone feel comfortable and secure at Meetup events.

Hi everyone and welcome! I am planning a meet and greet picnic event at Colburn Park in Lebanon, NH! This event will be all about getting to know each other, enjoying the fresh air, and sharing in some light games, food, and great company. The featured photo is one that I took on a previous visit to Colburn Park.

Please bring the following for this event:
Water (or other beverage)
Food and/or snacks
Shoes
Sunblock
Insect Repellent
Picnic blanket or Towel

Colburn Park is located at 51 N Park St, Lebanon, NH 03766; it is directly in front of Lebanon City Hall and its landmarks include several benches, picnic tables, a small playground, and a pan fountain at its center. Parking for Colburn Park is located in several parking spaces that encompass the park as well as in the parking lot behind City Hall and adjacent to Mascoma Bank (refer to spaces with “all-day” parking signs.) Though I don’t anticipate parking to be an issue, I cannot guarantee that there will be enough parking spaces and for those bringing guests, please carpool.

There are several food options in the venues that surround Colburn Park, including Lucky’s Coffee Corner, The Three Tomatoes, Salt Hill Pub, and Cave Village Pizza – please feel free to grab food at any of these locations before coming to the park!

When I arrive at Colburn Park, I will post a comment in the comments section to confirm my location. We will then meet, grab a spot to eat at, and then play some light games afterward. I have allocated 3 hours for this event, but please do not feel pressured to stay the entire time if you don’t feel up to it. Hi everyone! I am planning a hike and light swim at Quechee Gorge near Quechee, VT. The hike is an easy 1.4-mile hike with an elevation gain of approximately 154 ft. There are some very scenic views of the Ottauquechee River, Dam, and Waterfalls! The featured photo is one that I took during a previous visit. For those who are interested, we can also go for some light swimming at the bottom of the Gorge. After the hike, we can then grab some ice cream and/or lunch. Dogs are welcomed on the Quechee Gorge trails, but must be kept on a leash.

Please bring/wear the following for this event:
Water (at least 2 bottles)
Shoes (regular shoes or hiking shoes)
Sunblock
Insect Repellent
Swimsuit and towel (for swimming at the Gorge – optional)

Parking for Quechee Gorge is located at 6053 Woodstock Rd, Quechee, VT 05059 or at the adjacent Quechee Gorge Visitor Center at 5966 Woodstock Rd, White River Junction, VT 05001. Though I don’t anticipate parking to be an issue, I cannot guarantee that there will be enough parking spaces and for those bringing guests, please carpool.

Plan to arrive at Quechee Gorge for 9:30am. When I arrive, I will post a comment in the comments section to confirm my location. We will wait 15 minutes for friends to gather before starting the hike. I have allocated 4 hours for this event, but we will travel at our own pace. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you are concerned about the difficulty of this hike. I want friends to feel comfortable and assure that our pace won’t leave anyone behind. Hello, everyone! I am planning a visit to Ruggles Mine in Grafton, NH. After an extended closure, Ruggles Mine is finally reopen to the public and is an excellent place to visit for gemstone, rock, and mineral collecting, as well as leisure hiking and sightseeing. Admission to Ruggles mine is $30 per person, and tickets do not need to be purchased ahead of time. Each paid admission will allow us to collect up to a 5-gallon bucket of rocks. There are some rules that we will need to abide by during our time at Ruggles Mine, including:

No power tools or breaking of rocks.

No hammering of mine rock walls within caves.

No open-toed shoes.

Pets must be well-behaved and leashed at all times; owners must clean up after their pets.

Respect off-limit areas (areas that are fenced or gated off.)

Parking for Ruggles Mine is located at 286 Underhill Rd, Grafton, NH 03240. Although the parking lot is spacious, I cannot guarantee enough parking spaces and for those bringing guests, please carpool. I have allotted 3 hours for this event, but you may leave whenever is best for you. No pressure at all to stay the whole time!

Plan to be in the parking lot at 9:30am. When I arrive, I will post a comment to confirm my location as I wait for friends to gather. We will purchase our admissions at 9:45am and enter the mine. Stragglers may purchase admissions and then locate our group upon entrance to the mine. Please remember to update your RSVP if you are unable to attend!
