Hello, everyone! I am planning a visit to Kroka Expeditions and hike to Duck Hole Pond in Alstead, NH. Kroka Expeditions is a non-profit wilderness school that merges expedition travel, farming, crafts, community service, and academic discovery through guided programs. The hike starts out as a walk alongside the Kroka Village campus and then becomes a forest hike beside marshes, ponds, trees, stunning rock formations, and bushes. There are also river crossings. We will be traveling via the Beaver Pond, Grassy Brook, and Duck Hole Trails. It will be a 4.8-mile, moderate hike with an elevation gain of 367 ft. The featured photo is one that I took on a previous visit. Additional village photos can be found in the "Photos" section of this event page. There are some very scenic views! Unfortunately, pets are not allowed at this location.

Please bring the following gear for this event:
Water (at least 2 bottles)
Hiking Shoes
Insect Repellent
Snacks (as needed)
Microspikes (**although these may not be needed, please bring microspikes/crampons in case of icy terrain)

We will meet at the Kroka Expeditions Public Access Parking Lot: the parking lot is a dirt lot located off of Forest Road. Please refer to the included map pin for driving directions. Depending on how many RSVPs I receive for this event, I will add a carpool location to accommodate a larger group. Please keep an eye on the comments section and I will post a comment to attendees in advance (3 days at the latest) with a carpool location and additional instructions.

Plan to arrive at the parking lot for 9:00am. When I arrive, I will post a comment in the comments section to confirm my location. We will wait 15 minutes for friends to gather before starting the hike. I have allocated 4 hours for this event, but we will travel at our own pace. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you are concerned about the difficulty of this hike. I want friends to feel comfortable and assure that our pace won’t leave anyone behind.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to send me a message or post a comment below and I will reply. I will be keeping a close eye on the weather throughout the week. This event will be subject to change depending on weather conditions.
