Historic Pioneer hikes near Mt. Hood
Details
We'll stop at the old Toll Gate along Hwy. 26, then on to see where the pioneers let down their wagons with ropes as they followed the Oregon Trail. Then we'll drive over to the old Barlow Road Trail and hike down to the Pioneer Woman's Grave and back. Then we'll drive to the Trillium Lake area for a short loop hike, then drive to the Still Creek area for another loop hike. Should be about 4.5 miles total. For those who want, we can add a short hike to Little Zig Zag Falls, then follow the Pioneer Bridle Trail to an old mine shaft on the way back for an extra mile.
Carpooling is recommended as there's limited parking.
