Claremont Canyon Hike (Dogs Welcome)
Details
In the Claremont Canyon Regional Perserve, part of the Eastbay regional park. Behind the historic Claremont Hotel is a 208-acre preserve with picturesque hiking trails. The Stonewall-Panoramic Trail is the primary trail, with the best views in the Berkeley Hills that include Downtown Berkeley, Downtown Oakland, and the San Francisco Bay. A steep climb uphill, but amazing views of the Golden Gate, Bay Bridge, Berkeley and Oakland and a lovely 360 views at the top. Do make sure you take in the full panoramic view, not just the golden gate. We will stop at the top for sneak/lunch break and enjoy the view and the company.

Information: No Toilet or water at trailhead, Dogs should remain leashed in developed areas. If they are off leash, dogs must be under positive sight and voice command

Directions: From 880 or 580 in Oakland take 24 east, take Claremont Ave Exit, Left on Claremont Ave, then Left on Stonewall Road. the trail head just up the block street parking all over the neighborhood.
Hike Route: (Trails poorly marked) 7 Hills. We head uphill on Stonewall Panoramic trail, past at the second bench (take Group Photo) then continue uphill Stonewall Panoramic trail, Right at the Panoramic Way Fire-road, then continue uphill on East-West Trail, continue center trail uphill, the 4th Hill, then continue on up the longest 5th hill, continue straight second Right, then quick left up steep short 6th hill (Chaparral Peak) no view, left then straight on convict trail, 7th hill lookout with logs (break), then continue on convict trail downhill, Left on the Upper Jordon Fire Trail until we reach the junction with a fence, go through the fence. Left on Panoramic trail, Right downhill on Panoramic way street, left downhill steps on the Clark Kerr Trail, Left at junction through the woods and up to 1st hill lookout, then continue
downhill on the Stonewall-Panoramic trail and back to the starting point.
