Punavouri Walking Tour: Exploring People-Centered Urban Design

Details
Walk, Talk & Go Deep
Join us for a 1.5–2-hour walk through Punavuori this Sunday at 2 pm.
Based on feedback from the first Walk + Talk + Go Deep meet, I’ve adjusted the format—hope you like it!
Here’s what to expect:
Punavuori is a neighbourhood defined by tall, historic buildings that exceed what’s typically considered human scale.
Human scale usually means building heights that feel comfortable and approachable for everyday life—generally around four storeys or less.
As you explore, notice how the scale of the buildings affects your experience.
Does it feel welcoming? Intimidating?
In small groups, you’ll wander freely, following your curiosity and observing whatever draws your attention.
At some point, you'll pause together.
Sit in silence for five minutes and take in your surroundings. Then, discuss with your group:
What activities are people doing?
How do they appear—happy, hurried, relaxed, stressed?
Who do you see? What’s the mix—children, elderly, men, women, people from diverse backgrounds?
Are there places to sit, pause, and relax?
What else catches your eye?
We’ll regroup afterward to share what you observed, heard, and felt.
Take a moment to reflect:
How do I feel in this neighbourhood? What’s missing for me here?
What do you love about your neighbourhood? What do you wish it had?
How can we build stronger connections within our community?
☕ If we go to a café, please buy something to support the business.
