Urban Kiz Foundations: January - February 2026
Details
Following our Open House, we are diving deep with a 4-week Foundations Series designed specifically for those who want to learn with precision and confidence. Urban Kiz is a modern partner dance that blends the close connection of African Kizomba with other styles like Hip-Hop or Tango.
Over the course of four weeks, we move beyond just "steps" to focus on the core mechanics that make this dance feel effortless and smooth. Whether you are a total beginner or a dancer looking to clean up your technique, this series is your roadmap to the dance floor.
- When: Every Wednesday, Jan 21 - Feb 11
- Time: 9:00 to 10:00 PM
- Location: Elements Dance Studio
What You Will Learn
We’ve broken the series into four key pillars to ensure you walk out ready to social dance:
- Week 1: Posture & Walking – Understanding the weight transfer, posture, and the essential Urban Kiz "walk."
- Week 2: Navigating the Grid – Learning how to navigate the floor using lines, pivots, and directional changes.
- Week 3: The Role of Lead & Follow – Mastering frame, tension, and the subtle signals that create a seamless connection.
- Week 4: Musicality & Transitions – Putting it all together. Learning how to listen to the music and transition between moves with flow.
