Join us for a rare and special Dharma talk by Master YongHua, a leading teacher of the Weiyang lineage (潙仰宗) of Chan(or Seon) Buddhism, during his autumn visit to Korea. This will be the first time the Weiyang tradition’s distinctive approach to training disciples is introduced publicly in Korea.
The Weiyang lineage, the earliest of the five great schools of Chinese Chan, was founded by Great Master WeiShan Lingyou (潙山靈祐), successor to Huairang (懷讓) of Nanyue, and further developed by his disciple Yangshan Huiji (仰山慧寂). Although the lineage once declined due to a lack of suitable successors, it was later revived through the efforts of Venerable Xuyun in Korea and Great Master Xuan Hua (선화상인) in the West, who transmitted the Dharma and trained many disciples.
To this day, the Weiyang lineage has been little known in Korea, especially its unique system of disciple training, which has remained largely hidden from the public. In this special Dharma assembly, Master YongHua will present key teachings from the classic text Weiyanglu (潙仰錄), offering the audience deep insight into the tradition’s profound methods and wisdom.
This is not merely a theoretical talk about Chan. Master YongHua will explore how practitioners are trained and transformed—offering practical insights that can help you evaluate and deepen your own practice. There will also be an open Q&A session, where anyone can ask questions and receive direct answers from the master.
We warmly invite you, your family, and friends to join us for this extraordinary opportunity to encounter the living wisdom of the Weiyang patriarchs.
