# 🌶️ Sketching at Texas Chili Parlor: Cinematic Vibes & Urban Sketching
### 🎬 Movie Intro: Death Proof & Quentin Tarantino’s Austin
If the wooden booths, neon signs, and dark wood panels of the Texas Chili Parlor look familiar, that’s because you’ve seen them on the big screen! This iconic Austin institution was featured heavily in Quentin Tarantino’s 2007 cult thriller Death Proof (part of the double feature Grindhouse ). It’s the very dive bar where Stuntman Mike buys a round of Chartreuse shots, orders bowls of chili, and where the film’s tense, dialogue-driven drama unfolds.
### 🎥 The Movie Locations Series
This event kicks off our brand-new Austin Cinematic Sketching Series ! We’re pairing our love for creative practice with Austin's rich film history, exploring iconic movie shooting locations, historic hangouts, and unique indoor spots across the city. We welcome everyone to propose places for our next stop! Have a favorite film set or cozy local haunt in mind? Let us know at the meetup!
