Urban Sketchers Texas: 10 in TX is an event organized by the five Texas regional chapters of Urban Sketchers (USk), a nonprofit dedicated to fostering the practice of on-location, observational sketching.

Join us to celebrate 10 Years of Urban Sketching in Texas in historic Bastrop, Texas. This is a first-time gathering of Urban Sketchers from across Texas to sketch, network and socialize. Everyone from absolute beginners to experienced artists are invited to join us for a weekend of on-location sketching from direct observation.

We’ll sketch throughout Bastrop’s picturesque public spaces. Lost Pines Art Center will be our home base for the Meet & Greet, the Sat. morning & evening receptions and the Sketchbook Exhibit.

WEEKEND SCHEDULE
FRIDAY, Sept. 29, 2023

• 4-5:30pm - Paid attendees pro off Sketchbooks/Art for display at Lost Pines Art Center (LPAC)
• 5:30-7:30pm - "Meet & Greet" drinks, snacks and Sketchbook Exhibit
• 8:00pm - Drink & Draw at Copper Shot Distillery, Bastrop Beer, or 602 Brewing

SATURDAY, Sept. 30, 2023

• 9am - Check in at LPAC, Opening Reception & presentation by James (Jim) Richards, "Busted in Havana: Tales From the Road"
• 10:30am - (for beginners) USk101: Meet at The Art Institute for a brief intro to Urban Sketching followed by Morning Sketch Walk
• 10-12:30pm - Morning Sketch Walk:
  • Main Street 919 Main St. - Meeting point in front of 602 Brewing
  • The Crossing / Neighbors Kitchen & Yard- 601 Chestnut St. Meeting point near the rusty truck at Neighbors Kitchen
  • Farmer’s Market (morning only)
  1302 Chestnut St. Meeting point outside
  • Colorado River 904 Main St.
  Meeting point in front of the Visitor Center. NOTE: 65 stairs to river front
• 12:30-2pm - LUNCH on your own
• 2:30-4:30pm - Afternoon Sketch Walk (same as morning locations except for the Farmer’s Market)
• 6pm - Group photo at LPAC
• 6:15-7:30pm- Closing Reception: drinks & snacks at LPAC
• 8:00pm - Drink & Draw at Copper Shot Distillery, Bastrop Beer, or 602 Brewing

SUNDAY, Oct 1,2023

• 9:30-12:30pm - Optional Sketch Walk: Gather, sketch, group photo, and Throwdown at noon in front of Bastrop Visitor Center.

$40 Sketcher Tickers include: Friday Meet & Greet, Saturday Opening Reception, Saturday Closing Reception, and opportunity for you sketchbook to be on display Fri-Sat at LPAC.
$20 Non-participant partner ticket includes: Friday Meet & Greet and Saturday Closing Reception.
FREE Saturday events open to the Public: USk101 at The Art Institute, Sketch Walks, and viewing of the Urban Sketcher's Sketchbook display at LPAC from 11am-5pm.
