Details

Agenda:
5:30 - 6:00, Networking & Food
6:00 - 7:00, Presentation

At this meetup, we’ll observe a live interaction session, and hold an open UX design review and critique. Everyone is invited to actively participate to help improve this product UX. Darren Kall will present an interactive prototype of a work in progress for a client. We’ll start with Darren running a volunteer through a short usability study with the prototype. Then Darren will give the background of the product goals, and describe the techniques being used to drive the UX design. Then we’ll go through the product again, questioning, critiquing, and recommending alternatives, until Darren is in tears. :^)

Usable identity management is critical not just for accessing Electronic Health Records (EHR) but for combating all sorts of online fraud and identity theft. Online security, privacy, and commerce are limited by the trust in the system that the person accessing a service is authentically who they claim to be. Usernames and passwords as protection are simply broken and insufficient. Passwords are a common vector of attack to steal medical records. And likewise for other personal and financial data as evidence by recent media news of data security breaches. In 2013 76% of network intrusions exploited week or stolen credentials. The goal of the product Darren will present is to leverage privacy-enhancing technologies, create a secure, trustworthy and authentic online identity, that is cost-effective for businesses to use, and that is easy enough that it will encourage users to adopt it. Will it succeed? Come help make it happen.
