May - "We feel you" - Collab with UXA/CSS

Details

Howdy folks,

Over the past few weeks, the UXA and CSS crew have been meeting to plan the upcoming event. In doing so, we realised we all had different experiences with "the other side". As makers of fine web things, we still didn’t quite understand each other’s nomenclature and processes.

We realised some of us had highly engaged collaborations via agile, while others worked in relative isolation, maintaining contact only during design handoffs.

The most significant barrier here is communication. We have a vague grasp of each other’s roles but technical jargon, buzzwords and preconceived notions get in the way. Sometimes the fear of asking a 'dumb question' stops us from breaking down that barrier. Other times, it’s a lack of trust fuelled by a general unfamiliarity of how the other side works.

Via this insight, we decided our goal for this collab is to create empathy for each other’s roles, to understand our jargon and processes in a safe and inclusive environment.

This meetup is going to be participatory as we use techniques to gather information, share our buzzwords and identify how we can work better together! Please come prepared for activity and inclusion. This is not for spectators.

You don’t need your laptop, just an open mind.

We're proudly sponsored by Vital, who are providing us with delicious noms and GridAKL, who are providing us this excellent venue.

We're also accepting donations to cover the cost of drinks for the evening. If you can spare a few shekels, we'd greatly appreciate it.

Vegan and non-alcoholic options will be provided.
