Winter Design Slam!

Details
It's February, and what could be a better inspiration for designers than Winter season, and that means it's time for our Design Slam event. Whether you are a UX designer, researcher, information architect, interaction designer, whether you are a newbie or an expert, student or senior consultant or director, you are invited to participate.
The details of the design challenge is being kept secret until the start of the event, as is our custom. Those involved in the planning are excusing themselves from participating on a team, so as not to give anyone an undue advantage.
We've held several design slams over the years, and each time, participants have said great things about the experience. We invite you to connect with new and familiar UX enthusiasts and participate in this light-hearted way, to learn more about the user experience and the design process.
The way our Design Slam works is as follows: At the start of the event, attendees are assigned to one or more teams, depending on how many people register. Team assignments and the specifics of the design challenge are announced. Inputs such as background information, any online links of relevance, and artifacts such as personas are provided. Representative(s) from the organization whose software is being designed or redesigned will be on hand and in attendance. Teams will break out into their own rooms and work for a specified period of time, usually at least an hour, on the design challenge. Evaluators and/or representatives from the target organization may circulate and visit the teams, answering questions, etc. Each team comes up with a proposed design or redesign, suitable for presentation and discussion by the end of their time together. The groups come back to the main room, and each team presents their findings to the evaluators, who typically are senior level UX professionals. As a final step, the evaluators offer feedback and may choose to select one design as most effective, using a rubric that was pre-selected before the event.
The members of the winning team will be awarded for their creative and thoughtful presentations!
This design slam event is being offered as a fund-raiser for our UXPA NJ chapter operations. We encourage you to sign up early, as we usually have a waiting list for our design slam events.
Note that you will need to pre-register for this event, which will be recorded.
Thank you to Professor Rupa Misra and Rutgers University for their sponsorship of this event.
Note: Should the registration for this event fill to capacity, email josephinegiaimo@gmail.com with your name to be added to the waiting list.
