About the speakers
Kinsey Katchka has an eye for seeing what’s missing in complex problems where culture is key. As a cultural anthropologist and specialist in African studies, she has conducted relationship-based, human-centered and policy-oriented research on African art, cultural policy and museum practices for 20 years.
As an accomplished scholar and thought leader, Kinsey has published widely on cultural exhibition practices, unpacking legacies of European imperialism and industrialization to surface the origins of systemic cultural and racial bias.
As a pathbreaking curator of contemporary and African art, she applies theory to practice, working with organizations to diversify representations of contemporary artists and cultures, disrupt entrenched systemic inequities and advance inclusive exhibition practices. Through a steady commitment to relationship building and equitable cultural representation, Kinsey has cultivated a diverse global network of innovators and co-creators.
Most recently, as cultural strategist and designer, she has shifted her focus to possibilities of UX approaches and anthro-complexity to expand the scope and scale of her work, aiming to advance cultural transformation in organizations. After years of neglecting her creative side, she now indulges a healthy obsession with glass in her home studio.
