PROGRAMMING CHANGE: Due to circumstances beyond our control, our planned speaker for Thursday night's event is being postponed until later in February. We apologize for any inconvenience to our members.

In the meantime, we know that so many of you have expressed interest in the current and future state of the UX profession. We'd like to take a closer look the state of the profession, especially, in the context of recent swaths of tech layoffs and other trends. Some of you may already be familiar with recent articles on the topic, such as Jakob Nielsen's article and forecast on UX Angst https://jakobnielsenphd.substack.com/p/ux-angst-of-2023, and Amy Santee's blog post on "what the heck" is going on in the UX field lately https://www.amysantee.com/post/what-the-heck-is-going-on-with-the-ux-job-market, complete with numerous graphs and charts.

Well, we are SO with you. We share your questions, and I hope, have some suggestions for you, too. Individually, and collectively.

What does 2024 hold in store for UX professionals? What should employed UX professionals do to make sure that they stay employed? What can out-of-work UX professionals do to become employed? What specific market trends are impacting the UX professions these days, and how should we adjust to them, if at all? What are some of the strategies that UX professionals can use to wind their way through the uncertainty of the coming year, and land successfully, on their feet? What are some of the in-demand fields that UX professionals can easily pivot into? What are some of their transferrable skills that employers are currently looking for? How can UX professionals "piece it together" and make it through 2024 successfully?

Let's remember, we are becoming the UX leaders organizations are seeking. We have a positive vision of the future. Let's support each other as we build connections. Let's use our skills to help ourselves and others to succeed.

Our chapter team leadership will facilitate a UX discussion on how we all can work together can keep the UX lights on, literally and figuratively. After a brief welcome, we'll dive right in. This event will include facilitated, structured discussion, including invitations for participation via chat and zoom. We encourage you to share your experiences, questions, and suggestions. This event will not be recorded, so you are invited to participate at a level that you feel comfortable with.

Our team facilitators will keep our conversations lively, on point, and relevant to all attendees. We're committed to your receiving value and actionable insights from these discussions.

Please note: Currently, our chapter operates on a 100% volunteer basis by several key team members, the support of pre-existing Zoom accounts and non-monetary support from Rutgers University, using their facilities (when in person). We are grateful for all of these things, especially, for the growth of our chapter and for whatever you are able to give to it. So thank you in advance.

You can also visit our meetup.com page to donate.

We encourage early sign up early for a secured spot. Note that you will need to pre-register for this event, which will be recorded.
Note: Should the registration for this event fill to capacity, email [josephinegiaimo@gmail.com](mailto:josephinegiaimo@gmail.com) with your name to be added to the waiting list.

Thank you to Professor Rupa Misra and Rutgers University for their sponsorship of this event.

Note: At UXPA NJ, we have recently grown our membership to more than 1000 members. At this time, we are looking to develop a full-fledged chapter development and sponsorship program. Would you like to learn more? We have several opportunities available, and are looking for a few enthusiastic participants to join our leadership team. You'll have the opportunity to meet and network with a variety of people within the UX profession, while developing your skills. Please contact one of our organizers if you are interested in this possibility, or email Josephine at josephinegiaimo@gmail.com. We can set up a conversation for possibility and explore some options.
