Usage of Git and GitOps seems to grow every day. Source code is longer just for developers. We are moving more and more of our day to day operations into git. This means that everyone could benefit from a better understanding of it. And even more importantly, how to collaborate when working with a large repository.

This talk walks you through some of the basics of how git works under the hood. While not diving too deep into the details, it covers enough to give even a brand new developer a solid understanding of the basics. Once we have those fundamentals set down, we use them to introduce some git best practices and help clear up common hurdles that come with working on shared code using git.

Carson Anderson is the DevX-O at Weave. He and his team help to build tools and systems to improve the Developer Experience at Weave. When he is isn’t working hard migrating the world to Kubernetes he can be found speaking at Utah based meetup groups and hacking on open source projects.
