Talk: Becoming an Effective Mentor

Have you ever thought about becoming a mentor but didn’t know how to get started? Mentoring is a valuable tool for professional development that can result in positive outcomes for both the mentor and the mentee. In this talk, you will learn:

• How to identify the specific skills and strengths that you could potentially offer as a mentor.

• Strategies for how to build formal and informal mentoring relationships in the workplace.

• Best practices for communication in mentoring, including how to give constructive feedback and understanding the importance of of active listening.

• Strategies for overcoming common fears that might be preventing you from wanting to become a mentor. Olivia Liddell is a Cloud Training Specialist at Cloudbakers. She is a former Chicago Public Schools teacher who now specializes in technology training and change management. She is passionate about teaching, mentoring, and distance running.

Take I-15 to the SR-92 (Timpanogos Hwy.) exit. Go West on SR-92. Turn right on N. Thanksgiving Way (In front of the Maverick). At the T intersection, turn right to continue on N. Thanksgiving Way. Turn left on W. Mayflower Ave.

Enter through the front door and immediately turn left and the auditorium will be right in front of you.
