Next meet up is Saturday, Feb. 18th at Noon at Impact Hub. It was previously announced we would have another roundtable discussion/networking get together, but one of our regular and highly knowledgeable meetup members, Tron Black, who works for T0, Overstock.com's blockchain-based trading platform, has offered to give a presentation about the crypto-investment trading ecosystem he's titled, "Wall Street vs. Crypto Street." This is the same presentation he'll be delivering a few days prior at Medici Ventures, the blockchain investment arm of Overstock.com. Here's a teaser:
There is a parallel financial ecosystem being built that mirrors Wall Street, but is separate and independent. The crypto-ecosystem is growing faster than Wall Street. Is this the Telcos vs. Internet reprise?
There are two parallel systems:
The traditional Wall Street / Federal reserve system, and the crypto-ecosystem. Bitcoin == Dollar Bitfinex == Forex Poloniex == Nasdaq Dash = Visa/MC Initial Coin Offerings (ICO) == Initial Public Offerings (IPO) and other comparisons....
As a percentage, the crypto-ecosystem is growing far faster than the traditional highly-regulated fiat system. Also, the crypto-ecosystem is far more egalitarian and offers more options and opportunities for the not-super-wealthy.
Those of you who have talked with Tron at previous meetups know that he's an engaging guy and his knowledge runs deep. This should be a compelling presentation!
