DAOs, the future of governance
Hosted by Utah Bitcoin Community
Details
Decentralized Autonomous Organizations are a revolutionary new governance model. For the first time a voluntary group of people can be governed by computer algorithm instead of a show of force (i.e. police), bodily harm, or fiscal threat. Imagine an organization (political, HOA, company, charity etc) where the rules can't be broken. Imagine a high functioning organization that has no CEO, board of directors, or headquarters. Imagine voting in an organization where you can have complete confidence and transparency in the voting process. All this is achievable today, and it's made possible by the blockchain and crypto currencies.
We'll discuss what a DAO is, and what it is not, and the principles behind a DAO. We'll discuss some of the purposes of DAOs, and then we'll take a tour of Utah's first on-chain smart contracted DAO, The UtahDAO (http://UtahDAO.net). If you so choose, you can become a member of the UtahDAO. It's free, fun and extremely educational.
We'll discuss ideas and proposals for the future direction of The UtahDAO.
The Holladay Library has a great meeting room with plenty of parking. We look forward to seeing you all :-)
