Utah Golf Pages

Who Are We?
Utah Golf welcomes golfers of all skill levels who want to meet friends and participate in some fantastic events.

Why are we fun?
Because for every meetup you attend, you receive a drawing for prizes we hand out at the end of the season social golf tournament. (Must be present to collect your prize)

Are you a Beginner, Intermediate or advanced player?
We have a spot for all. We have three classifications for golfers:

Beginners
• Has never touched a club
• No lesson Experience
• Only hits on the range
• Plays a few shots on the golf course
• Typically plays 9 holes
• Consistently averages over 115 for 18 holes from appropriate tees
• Beginning to learn golf etiquette/rules but needs assistance

Intermediate
• Some Group Instruction
• Some previous private instruction
• Plays golf and keeps score for either 9 or 18 holes
• Consistently averages low-90's to 115 for 18 holes from appropriate tees
• Understands some golf etiquette/rules but still learning

Advanced

• Previous private instruction

• Has tournament experience and/or very familiar with golf etiquette/rules

What is the difference between ‘Social Mix’ and ‘League Play’?
Everyone is expected to respect and adhere to the policies of both groups.

Attention: it is helpful for everyone to review the “Basic Etiquette for Beginners” information located on the ‘pages’ tab.

The ‘Social Mix’ outings are for golfers of any age who just enjoy playing golf without the pressure. There are a range of playing abilities in this group so pay attention to the golf announcements to see which categories people would like to invite. For example, a social outing may be announced for Intermediate to Advanced golfers only. Or.. a social may be announced as a beginner to Advanced outing. All we ask is that you respect the announcement. If you are an advanced player attending a beginner outing, you must respect the playing ability of the beginner. Likewise, if an outing is announced for Intermediate and Advanced, we ask that if you are a beginner to not sign up for that particular outing. (lessons are available from many venues around the valley so if you have never played golf before it would be worth investigating what is available to get you started).

For those who would like a little more friendly competition, we have a Utah Golf ‘League Play’.

(For detailed information on ‘League Play’ rounds, review the information found under the ‘pages’ tab for League Play).

League play rounds are for those who would like to have a little friendly competition for end of the season trophies. We use a net score handicap system that awards points on League Play meetups. No need to have an official handicap. We will track one for you with the league play. League play is included in the $10 annual fee we ask of everyone. No additional fees are required to play. We just ask you follow the additional rules established for the ‘League Play’ outings.

FEES
Annual NON-REFUNDABLE fee: $10.00
If a member resigns from our group, this fee will not be refunded. The Annual Membership fee in this group is to cover the Annual Meetup Subscription cost and prizes with the rest going towards an Annual Event or Tournament. This is payable on the Utah Golf main page with a credit card by using the 'We Pay' feature or by cash to one of the ‘League Play’ organizers. Cash is perfectly fine for those who feel uncomfortable using the online credit card system.

If you’re not sure the Utah Golf group is right for you and you’d like to try us out before you pay, that’s fine. Guests and new friends are able to attend golf outings during their trial period. Once the trial period has expired, you will be asked to pay the membership fee if you'd like to continue with the group.

How are Rounds Organized?
Rounds are efficiently planned by the organizers. All you need to do is turn up at the time requested ready to play. It is important that for any round you ‘RSVP’ online and you read the description and details to know the tee time information. And if you need to cancel, please provide 24hr notice with your cancellation so others on the waiting list can fill your spot. Members who have two no-shows without contacting the event organizer may be temporarily removed from the group. It's only fair so others who would like to participate are able to.

Other golfers can suggest a meetup too. When a member suggests a meetup, if three other members say they can make it, it will become an official meetup in the system.
