Python, Rust, and UV: The new high-performance app stack

In 2024, Astral labs released `uv`, a Rust-based, deterministic, and extremely fast python packaging tool. But under the hood of those efforts is a whole library to incorporate Rust into python seamlessly, leading to projects such as Pola.rs, tokenizers, orjson and many other rust-based, python-importable libraries.

This meetup will start with the basics of rust + python packaging then dive into the source code behind the scenes that powers it. Finally we'll actually code a bit of rust and leverage it in python.

If you have a laptop and code editor and a connection to the internet that's all you need -- no previous programming experience is required for this talk but it will help.
