Description:
Learn how to develop and architect applications on AWS by implementing a series of projects/labs. Professional AWS Certified instructor will go from fundamental to advanced AWS concepts over the course of 3 weekends (Saturday & Sunday afternoons). We will be discussing real-world use cases, architectural challenges, best practices and design patterns to help you build highly scalable, available and secure IT Solutions on AWS. This course will also prepare you for AWS Architect Associate, Developer Associate or Cloud Practitioner certifications.

Time: 2-5:30 pm CST on Saturdays & Sundays
Dates: June 6-7, 13-14 & 20-21 (3 Weekends)

Welcome and Introductions

  • Core AWS concepts, knowledge, and services

  • Account setup for hands-on labs

  • Deploying simple serverless web application

  • AWS Compute Services

  • AWS Storage Services

  • AWS Relational Database Service

  • EC2, EBS, CloudWatch, ELB, Auto scaling, S3, RDS

Introduction to NoSQL

  • Decoupled, real-time, event-driven and serverless architecture

Building end-to-end serverless application

Who should attend?
IT professionals who would like to learn AWS Cloud with a guided, practical hands-on approach.

Do I need to know programming?
Basic familiarity with any programming and/or scripting languages such as Java, Python or Shell Script is preferred. You will write code/scripts based on the snippets/examples provided in class.

Do I need to have prior AWS experience?
No.

What are course prerequisites?
General IT knowledge
Participants are required to bring their own laptop
AWS account to do hands-on exercises (Create free at https://aws.amazon.com)

How is this class different from other online courses?
Rather than long-running and dull theoretical video lectures; we focus on "learn-by-doing". Each session would be highly interactive with plenty of Q&A. Our approach will make you ready not just for the Certification Exams but also prepares you to perform well in real jobs/interviews. Series of guided hands-on labs will give you an in-depth understanding of AWS Cloud.

What is the cost / registration fee?
Course fee for current college students with full-time status is non-refundable $25 @ bit.ly/utd-aws-reg. We will ask for the course registration for current semester as the proof.
The course fee for professionals is $300 (pay $25 non-refundable registration fee @ bit.ly/utd-aws-reg now & the remaining $275 due by the second session).

Are there any costs beyond the registration fees?
There are no hidden charges. Majority of the labs would be under AWS Free Tier or might cost you a very little amount. (<5 USD)

Would I get a certificate after completing this course?
Participants attending at least 4 sessions would receive a certificate of completion from UTDallas.

Who is going to teach? Can you tell me more about the instructor?
Hands-on AWS Workshop will be led by an instructor currently working at Amazon Web Services. Instructor has over 11 different AWS + Google Cloud Certifications including AWS Certified Solution Architect Professional and Google Certified Solution Architect Professional. Instructor is a UTD Alumni with Masters in Computer Science and has trained over 2000 professionals in last 5 years.
