This camp is geared towards middle and high school students who are interested in learning about data science and machine learning. It is recommended that you have experience with the fundamentals of Python (we will exclusively use Python throughout this course).

Each session will be around 60-90 minutes at 3 PM CST and will include an instructional portion as well as a practice portion where students can apply what they have learned.

Below is the tentative schedule for this camp:

8/5 - Data analysis

  • What is data science?
  • NumPy
  • Pandas

8/6 - Data visualization

  • Matplotlib
  • Seaborn

8/12 - Machine learning: Regression

  • What is machine learning?
  • Linear regression algorithms (simple and multiple)

8/13 - Machine learning: Classification

  • Logistic regression
  • K-nearest neighbors
