Automation, Augmentation, Job Loss/Prevention

I think it is about time we discuss the elephant in the room, automation and job loss. Many people reject this as a concern because they will assert that automation in the past has only created more jobs. Here's the thing though we haven't actually seen automation in the past. What we have seen in the past is augmentation. So, while you may think we have been here before, I assure you, we have not. Here is an excellent video on the matter.
In this meeting I hope to be able to explain my two automation scenarios, the utopian one and the dystopian one and explain why I have hope. I am also interested in hearing what the rest of you think, as well as discussing the differences between augmentation of old and automation of new.
