About us
Diaspora Freethinkers Utrecht is a new meetup group created to build community for Black people and members of the African diaspora in the Netherlands who identify as atheists, agnostics, secular humanists, or are questioning religion.
We recognise that religion can play a powerful social and cultural role in our communities, which can make it difficult and sometimes isolating to step away or speak openly as a non believer. This group is being created to offer a confidential, friendly, and supportive space where people can connect without having to explain or defend themselves.
Our aim is to grow a community through cozy hangouts and thoughtful conversations about life, belief, identity, science, culture, ethics, and society, grounded in reason, curiosity, and humanist values. Whether you are newly questioning, firmly secular, or somewhere in between, you are welcome to help shape this space.
Alongside deep discussions, we also value connection, laughter, and simply spending time together in a relaxed and open environment.
