My Father's Name: Film Screening and Community Discussion

Details

Join us on Sunday, October 5, at 12:00 PM for a special screening of My Father’s Name, a 20-minute documentary that tells the intimate story of Jan Frazier, who discovers—years after her father’s death—that he participated in a lynching. What begins as a search for truth becomes a deeply personal reckoning. Jan must confront her love for her father, grapple with family accountability, and face the dawning awareness of her own unconscious racism.

This moving story is not only about one family’s legacy, but also about how we as a nation wrestle with history, justice, and healing.
that follows Jan Frazier’s search to uncover her late father’s role in a lynching and her effort to confront her family’s legacy.

Following the film, UUCC's Rev. Gy will lead a community discussion with Jan Frazier, joining live via Zoom, as she reflects on family, justice, and healing—and how these themes continue to shape our national story.

All are welcome to this powerful program of truth-telling, remembrance, and dialogue.
