What is UX made up of? There seems to be little agreement about which aspects are central to the user experience. One way to better understand how UX can be conceptualized is to examine its measurement in scientific research. In this talk, Sebastian Perrig will present the results of a systematic quantitative literature review of papers that study UX using survey scales. Results, further, suggest that little common terminology exists. In addition, there appears to be no consensus on what specific survey scales are best suited for measuring UX. These findings have several implications for UX research and practice that this talk will also address.
About the presenter
Sebastian Perrig is a phD candidate in psychology at the University of Basel in the HCI research group (for Human Computer Interaction).
https://www.mmi-basel.ch/en/team.html
His research is in the area of measurement methodology and scale construction for the recording of various constructs that make up the experience of users. Thus, he researches how to measure user experience (UX), which aspects are considered relevant for UX, and how to make UX as a whole more tangible. The review and comparison of existing questionnaires as well as the development of new relevant scales are the focus of his research.
He has published in several journals and received the CHI PLAY Honorable Mentions Award in 2021.
