Providence UX Meetup: Responsive Web Design

Details

UPDATE: Given the number of RSVPs we will be now opening the doors at 7 and the presentation will start promptly at 7:30. You can grab a burger at the ROI downstairs should you need a bite to eat beforehand. Beer will be provided by our awesome hosts Lullabot.

There have been many requests for a more formal meetup with a presentation and discussion focused on learning about a key User Experience/UI topic. So I am happy to announce the first presentation on responsive web design done by our very own Jason Pamental. Afterwards we will adjourn to a local watering hole in the jewelry district.

Overview (from Jason):

Responsive Web Design is one heck of a popular buzz phrase. It also happens to be one of the most significant inflection points in design thinking for the web. Ever. I say this because it represents the truth of design today: we are not designing a page – we're designing a system. In fact, we’re designing systems of relationships & hierarchy to infer meaning & importance. But in order to convey that meaning and importance across desktops, tablets and phones, that system can not be static. It must respond to the viewport through which it is engaged. We'll talk about exactly what that means, how Responsive Design works (both conceptually and technically), and discuss some ways to adapt your thinking as a designer so YOU can be responsive too.

Please RSVP as soon as possible as we have limited space at our kind hosts Lullabot.
