A good UX designer can easily explain the logic behind each decision in her concept. The information architecture, the page contents hierarchy, the flow and the assumptions used.

Sooner or later animation is introduced to the same concept and it becomes harder to make design decisions or explain them. Reasons like: "cool…" or "trendy", "cute" or "because it is exciting" are sometimes provided - these are exactly the areas where our design starts losing its strength. Animations deserves a far better ground in our design considerations. We should be qualified enough to define animations and explain their actual purpose – just the same way as we explain all other elements in our design.

In this lecture Amit will speak about functional animations. Share with you guidelines to validate them and give you a handy tool that helps decide if a specific animation deserves to be in our concept or should better be omitted.
