Reminders for UX Book Club Vancouver: 'Flow'

Hi everyone

We're really looking forward to seeing all of you this week and just wanted to pass along some quick notes and reminders that we hope will make Book Club enjoyable for everyone.

  • We will be meeting in the main 3rd floor loft space at The Network Hub (address is below). Just come in the main door next to Gorilla Foods off Richards Street, go to your right and all the way up to the third floor.

  • Please bring your copy of the book if you have it! The more copies on hand the better.

  • Please come prepared to discuss the book. Book Clubs are meant to be more of a salon or discussion group than a presentation style event. Though one or two people have been designated as moderators, they will be looking to each of you for thoughts, ideas, and ways the book we've selected has impacted you.

  • Even if you haven't read the entire book, come prepared to participate. If you don't have time to read the entire book, try selecting just one chapter or theme from the book and be prepared to talk about how this effects the way you think about design, user experience, interaction design, information architecture, content strategy--or even just day to day life.

  • Don't worry if you're new to UX: These events are meant to help all of us ask and answer questions! The books we select are only a jumping off point for wider discussion and participants range from student to veteran--fresh perspectives and expert advice are appreciated :)

  • Though we don't have anything formally planned, we will likely convene for post-Book Club cocktails at Rogue Wet Bar at Waterfront Station.

  • The event is free, but a suggested $5 donation at the door to assist with covering admin and booking costs would be greatly appreciated!

See you on Wednesday!
